Most find my grading to be more than fair, but it you disagree, I’ll still make it right for you. I even had the privilege of meeting Carl in his home on a number of occasions. This book would be in VERY GOOD condition, were it not for the tape on the spine (see scan). The tape has browned, but is still secure to the paper. The cover and back cover color is bright. The book lays flat with hardly a spine roll. The overall wear is moderate, with no tears or pieces missing, or no writing. The cover has pulled away from the bottom staple, but the rest of the pages are secure. The top staple is secure through both cover and pages. Overall color of the pages is a tan. The first page has some darker stain at the edge, but otherwise all the pages are in very nice condition. Overall, I grade the book at GOOD+, leaning toward GOOD-VERY GOOD. Again, if you can get past the tape on the cover, the book is really in nice shape! The book is complete, with both the title “Terror of the River” story and and equally entertaining “The Firebug” and “Seals Are So Smart” – all stories and art by Carl Barks – 52 pages in all. There are no advertisements – even the inside covers and back cover are Barks 1 page stories and art. I consider this to be a great bargain of a classic Golden Age Carl Barks book. For the collector who can’t or won’t afford a high-priced copy, but would love to own a complete and readable copy at a lower price, this is the one you have been looking for.
