The scans are of the books you will receive, not some other copy. My asking prices are always below Overstreet Comic Book Guide prices. Most find my grading to be more than fair, but it you disagree, I’ll still make it right for you. I even had the privilege of meeting Carl in his home on a number of occasions. This book would be in GOOD- condition, were it not for the cutout of Donald’s head on the cover and one other similar cutout on the last page of the insides. (see scans) The previous owner (not myself) did what I consider to be an excellent job of replacing the missing pieces with xerox copy paper copies, and then coloring Donald’s head to match as best as he could. Both sides of the cutouts are replaced exactly and securely. I grade it as FAIR because of the cutouts, but find the overall quality of the book to be at least FAIR-GOOD if not better. The paper is tanned to be sure, but not falling apart. Overall color is tan, but not brown. I can turn every page and each is still secure to the center staples and the paper is still supple enough to handle with no problem. The book is complete, with both the “Frozen Gold” story and and equally entertaining “Mystery of the Swamp” – both story and art by Carl Barks – 52 pages in all. There are no advertisements – even the inside covers and back cover are Barks 1 page stories and art. The book lays flat with no spine roll, and despite much wear on the spine, it still holds the book together well. The cover is soft with some tears and creases, but overall appears GOOD, as the scan shows. The back cover is in VERY GOOD condition with bright color. Inside the pages are not torn or missing pieces (except for the already noted back page, which has the one panel replaced – see scan). I consider this to be a great bargain of a classic Golden Age Carl Barks book. For the collector who can’t or won’t afford a high-priced copy, but would love to own a complete and readable copy at a lower price, this is the one you have been looking for.
