WALT DISNEY’S DONALD DUCK FOUR COLOR #147 (DELL 1947). “VOLCANO VALLEY”, and “RADIO TROUBLE” by CARL BARKS. This is a solid, complete copy of this magazine with very nice color. With only a tiny crease at the top right hand corner tip and a few small partial creases at the base, this book presents far better than graded. The big problem with this book is a small stain at the single staple in the spine. There is a small hole at the staple location making the cover fully detached. The stain is visible in the cover and back cover photos. All of the interior pages are still firmly bound by the staple. At the upper left near the top edge there is a small amount of writing with a black grease pen. On the back cover there are some droplet-type stains at the base. There is some penetration of the water stain to the last few pages of the book at the base. These stains do not affect the story panels. Both inside covers show some browning. FLASH GORDON Dell Four Color #26 from 1940 Dell Publications. This issue features Great Alex Raymond Flash Gordon strips! The comic is in Very Good to FINE condition with a small piece out top left front cover, the centerfold is loose, a nick at bottom of the spine, a couple very light creases bottom front cover (see scan)—otherwise a real nice, glossy, flat and tight copy— and HARD TO FIND in any decent condition. This has got to be a MUST HAVE for any Golden Age Flash Gordon collector at this great price–so get it now while it’s still available!!! This book contains the 2nd appearance of UNCLE SCROOGE, appearing a few months before his first appearance in Comics and Stories. In danger of loosing his fortune, Uncle Scrooge enlists the help of Donald and his nephews to help him locate an old family treasure. VERY GOOD (4.0) condition. This is a solid, complete copy of this magazine with very nice color and much of the original luster. There is some wear along the spine and it wears through at a tiny spot at the upper end. Both staples firmly bind the cover and all interior pages. On the back cover there is a partial vertical crease line at the bottom center and at the top left hand corner tip there is a small chunk out. The interior pages look off-white. WALT DISNEY’S UNCLE SCROOGE #1 (Dell 1952). FOUR COLOR #386 “Only a Poor Man” by Carl Barks. This is a nice mid-grade copy of this magazine with rich color and impressive original gloss. The spine is smooth and the staples are firm, showing no signs of pulling or tearing. There is a long vertical fold impression near the spine that barely breaks color and is therefore difficult to see in the pictures. At the top left edge there is a rubber stamp impression and just below that there is a name written in blue ink. At the top right corner there is a small chunk out at the tip. Just above Donald’s head there is a small line apparently written in pencil. At the bottom right corner there are two creases and a chunk out at the tip. The interior covers both show some browning along the edges. On the back cover there is a tiny chunk out at the upper left hand corner tip. At the right edge margin there is a small ink stain. The interior pages look off-white to light cream. The gloss on this book is better than any other mid-grade copy of this book I’ve seen.
