Smokey is supposed to be raking leaves, but decides to take a nap in the pile of leaves. Smokey gives an exploding cigar to a friend and it makes the round until it comes back to him. Fiddling Finnegan practices his awful fiddling at Smokey’s firehouse. Smokey’s son is supposed to practice the violin, but rigs it up with a clock’s pendulum. Smokey decides to go to Texas for a vacation because it’s all downhill on the map. Cookie bakes the Chief a birthday cake, but the only “candle” Smokey can find turns out to be a firecracker. Smokey and the Chief hide their clothes in a pile of sand while they go swimming, but the sand turns out to be cement. Scripts and art by Bill Holman. 68 pages, full color.
