Four Color #29 Donald Duck (Dell, 1943) CGC VG 4.0 Off-white pages. As one of 78 total graded by CGC non restored to date, this is a tough find for this key book. This issue was drawn entirely by Carl Barks (unlike issue #9 where he shared the art with Jack Hannah), and the lead story “Donald Duck and the Mummy’s Ring” is particularly memorable. As Thomas Andrae noted, this story begins to show the antiquarianism and use of authentic locales… Which distinguishes his work from that of other comic book artists. ” Ron Goulart called “Mummy’s Ring” and similar stories “graphic novels filled with adventure, comedy, satire, and some of the best cartooning to be found in comics. The influence of Barks’ adventure tales on the likes of George Lucas and Steven Spielberg, as well as a whole generation of comic book artists, is well-documented. Of course, the name of the “good artist” was not mentioned in the comic itself, nor known to any readers until many years later. Dell Four Color #984 Sleeping Beauty’s Fairy Godmothers Original Cover Art 1959

The first thing I have to say is that if you have viewed this listing before 4/15/18, then you might notice a different comic book shown at the end of the photos. This one IS included with the original art. If you look at the artwork and at the cover, the figures match exactly, but not the positioning of the 3 Fairy Godmothers. The stars are a match for the number of stars on the cover. I would say they shot the cover and then repositioned them to fit with the logo. This is definitely the original art for this cover, though. This art is twice up, at least, and the art board measures 14 1/4″ wide by 21″ tall. I would grade the art, just to call it something VERY GOOD to FINE 5.0. I would grade this art VERY GOOD to FINE 5.0 out of 10.0. A little more expensive, but faster and treated better [I think] by the post office. Definitely more expensive, but usually faster than the First Class and always treated with care by the post office. If you need quick service and it is truly an emergency birthday, anniversary, etc. Please do not assume anything, as that can cause a delay in getting the item to you and a lot of frustration for all involved.
